About the Job

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall execution and performance of the field operations staff at Minuteman’s Edison branch. They ensure the branch goals and objectives are successfully met to support overall company goals. A successful candidate for the Operations Manager role will have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal staff, external customers, and vendors. The Operations Manager role requires a candidate with a blend of previous experience managing projects and technical field experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • The most important responsibility of the operations manager is to lead project teams to deliver projects on time and under budget, while maintaining client relationships and continuously improving the company reputation. Success KPI’s are project profitability, team utilization and client satisfaction.
  • Lead personal development of operations account managers, project managers, engineers, installers and technicians. Success KPI’s include low counts of external hires at positions above entry level.
  • Maintain and enhance the company’s engineering standards. Manage the engineering process to ensure that all teams are creating and maintaining project documentation in a standardized format. Recommend improvements to methods and processes to Facilitate efficiency between design and services delivery.
  • Lead and serve on branch innovation team to keep company on the leading (but not bleeding) edge of innovation in terms of products and solutions, as well as mechanisms of delivery.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide general supervision of field operations staff, ensuring schedules are maintained and projects proceed according to plans, job specifications and cost estimates
  • Recruit, hire, train and retain field operations staff and oversee junior staff development.
  • Respond and resolve customer satisfaction issues and lead resolution of escalated client or project issues.
  • Coordinate and engage with relevant departments related to Installation projects/Service delivery.
  • Oversee Sales-to-Ops handoff; confirm receipt of deliverables for project prior to scheduling.
  • Coordinate Operations and Purchasing teams to ensure timely materials deliverables.
  • Site visits to ensure quality control of various projects; ensure conformance to client specifications also ensuring company standards.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable collection efforts.
  • Serve as safety champion for responsible branch; ensure reports, incidents, workers’ compensation (injury) reports, OSHA logs are funneled to the proper personnel and filing are up-to-date and complete.
  • Overnight stay and travel while performing duties at remote job locations and job training when required.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Engineering or Project Management, preferably in the security systems industry.
  • Understanding ERP use and project financial controls generally.
  • Comprehensive understanding of installation methods, best practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; ability to identify tasks and delegate.
  • Strong planning and reporting skills; possess excellent follow-up skills.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite® such as Microsoft Projects®, Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft Word®, and Microsoft Outlook®.
